Being pregnant changes a lot of things in the dating world (obviously). Getting tired really quickly, avoiding restaurants and bars because certain smells suddenly repulse you, drunk people are no longer funny – just annoying, you’re feeling uncomfortable and need to wee all the time. I never thought I would plan my day around toilet stops but here we are.
It can still do wonders for the soul to treat yourself to a little date or two. Here are a list of low budget pregnancy friendly date ideas that me and my Husband went on while I was pregnant.

Coffee shop date
Coffee shops are great. I just love everything about coffee. From the smell to the taste. And if I can sit in the window and people watch or sit outside on a sunny day, even better.
Make a picnic to take out
I was in my third trimester over winter but that didn’t stop us going out for little picnics. Me and my husband like to park our van at the beach and take some soup or sandwiches, but you can always go and sit somewhere with a nice view in your car, or if you’re brave, a bench, just make sure you pack some blankets and a hot drink if it is winter!
Turn your house into a coffee shop
While I was pregnant, my coffee shop dates were somewhat ruined by the nagging question in my head of ‘can we actually afford this’ since we are now financially tied down for the next 18+ years. Just 2 coffees a week each for me and my husband was costing us £20! That’s £80 a month!!
So in the spirit of trying to save, we turned our conservatory into a little coffee shop, got our camping chairs out and a made a coffee table using a storage box with a table cloth, and every time we had a coffee at home instead of going out, we put the money we would have spent into our savings account.
(Cute isn’t it?!)

Make future plans!
This might sound like a bit of a cop out but it is actually so much fun and can really lighten your mood planning a fun weekend away or a little road trip for the future. I love having something to look forward to.
We usually look at a map and choose somewhere we haven’t visited before (even if its only a 30 minute drive). I look for dog walks, pubs we can stop at, sites we want to see, food we can take with us, where we will stay..
Turn your front room into a cinema
Duvets. Pillows. Cups of tea. Snacks. Netflix. What more could you need.
The idea of actually going out to a cinema knocked me sick while I was pregnant. The thought of not being able to go the toilet when I needed, not having the snacks or drinks I wanted, sitting on uncomfortable chairs and even getting changed out of my dressing gown was too much some days.. eugh. Turn your front room into a cosey cinema for date night instead.
Do your own pregnancy photoshoot!
You don’t need a fancy camera these days to take a really decent photo. You don’t need to get all dressed up and go somewhere fancy. I loved capturing moments from my pregnancy to look back on.

Go for a walk
Fresh air is just good. Especially sea air.

Have a tapas evening at home
The best thing about doing tapas at home is you can literally have anything you want in your tapas selection. If you just want little plates of Toblerone, jammie dodgers and yellow mini eggs then you do it. Okay, its not traditional but who cares.
Fuck it, you can even light a candle for your table.
