all things life – outdoors, dogs and babies

My Story so far (and why I have decided to write a blog)

Hi and welcome to my blog! If you are here, how exciting, you are reading my first ever blog post!! I have been dreaming up this moment for a long time now. The hardest bit is always actually starting.

So, let me start at the beginning. My name is Elise, I live with my husband Neil and our dog Sunny.

We have always been described as laid back people who make snappy decisions, and never have a plan. Although there have been times that have been hard, everything always seems to work out.

We met working at an IT company in 2016, doing jobs we both hated (sorry that is the boring bit out of the way). Anyway eventually we decided to quit and pack up our lives in Manchester, UK, bought a campervan and travelled to Europe with Sunny. It was the best decision we ever made.

Along our travels we fell in love with Portugal and desperately started looking for ways that we could move out there. As neither of us have Irish passports this took a lot of planning (thanks Brexit). Eventually we had it all worked out and then bam, in our classic style of lack of planning, I found out I was pregnant with our first baby, which put a bit of a hiccup in our plans.

I was desperate for our life on the road to not come to an end, and wanted our daughter to grow up as a wild child, so our plans are to still travel and move to Portugal, but we are taking things slowly as we get used to life with a new baby. I have been searching online for other people who live like this to try and find help and reassurance, but so far found very little information that has been helpful to us, so we are learning as we go.

I wanted to start this blog to help other people like us who want to live an outdoorsy life, and raise their child to love nature. There will be everything from van life, camping tips, getting outdoors, cooking for a family, and ANYTHING babies and dogs.

If this sounds like your kind of thing, subscribe to my mailing list below to keep updated with our adventures, and (i’m sure a few) disasters along the way!!
